About us

Founded in 2006, by Dr Richard Ross (author of the first books on freshwater stingrays) Center for Stingray Biology was originally establish as a satellite facility to Dr Ross' main research facility. The purpose of building this facility was to give us the space needed to further study the breeding requirements of freshwater stingrays. As time went by... growing interest and demand for these animals in the ornamental fish trade led us to begin selling animals produced from our research. Center for Stingray Biology slowly transitioned from research to commercial trade... while still working very closely with Dr. Ross, we have branched off and now have become a full scale commercial breeding facility. Center for Stingray Biology is currently the only large scale commerical breeder of freshwater stingrays in the USA.
